Alcatel OneTouch Fierce XL Launched With Windows 10 at CES 2016

Alcatel OneTouch has launched its first Windows powered dubbed smartphone dubbed Alcatel OneTouch Fierce XL at CES 2016. It is available in Blue color and will be exclusively available from T-mobile in the US for $140 (Rs. 9350 approx.).

The smartphone comes preloaded with Microsoft's Office Mobile productivity suite of apps including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, and OneDrive. Apart from the preloaded apps, the Alcatel OneTouch Fierce XL will also pack features such as Cortana, Microsoft's digital voice assistant, and Microsoft Edge, the new default browser for Windows 10.

Alcatel OneTouch Fierce XL features 5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD display powered by 1.1GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 processor and 2GB RAM. It has an internal storage of 16GB and can be expanded via microSD up to 32GB. It sports a 8MP auto focus rear camera with LED flash and a 2MP front facing camera. It runs on Windows 10 and has 2000 mAh battery.

Netflix Comes to India, Plans Start at Rs 500 a Month

Netflix has announced its service in India and 130 other markets in Asia, the Middle East, and Europe. Netflix is an on-demand internet media streaming facility that is very popular in the US and parts of Europe. It is available in more than 50 countries across the world, including Switzerland, Austria, France, Germany and more. Last year, the company expanded its services to Japan, Spain, Portugal and Italy. And now it will be available everywhere including India (except China).


Plans for the on-demand TV, movies, and video streaming powerhouse - now available in 190 countries - start in India at Rs. 500 per month for access on 1 SD screen. For Rs. 650 per month you can watch HD content on 2 screens at a time, and Rs. 800 per month will get you 4K content on up to 4 screens simultaneously. You can signup for Netflix via its website or the Netflix apps on , iOS, Windows, and other platforms. 


All you need to do is enter your card details during signup - unless you are trying to make a purchase via iOS or Android and the store already has your card details - but you can enjoy a free one-month trial on all plans before you are billed. If you get an SMS for a charge of Rs. 70 or similar amount, don't worry, that's just an authorisation check, and you haven't actually been charged anything.

During signup you have to specify if you are above 18 and this means there is not going to be a lot of censored content, while everything will be rated. However, while creating a profile Netflix lets you identify children so that they don’t get access to any adult content.

Netflix is offering one month’s free trial for users in India. Users can access Netflix through an app on a smart TV, a videogame console, a streaming player or a smartphone/ tablet. You can check out Netflix here.

Nikon KeyMission 360 Action Camera Launched at CES 2016

Along with the flagship D5 and D500 4K DSLR cameras, Nikon has launched KeyMission 360. It is the the company's first ever action camera and it shoots 360-degree video in 4K.

According to the blog post, "The Nikon KeyMission 360 features an image sensor and lens on opposite sides of the device, with images from each combining to create a single immersive, ultra-high-definition 360-degree video and still image. A terrific companion for a wide range of travel, sports or when an adventure takes a turn off the beaten path, the camera is designed be easy to use and withstand the elements. Waterproof (approx. 100 ft./30m), and ready to stand up to dust, shock and low temperatures, the KeyMission 360 also features electronic Vibration Reduction (VR), enabled through applications during playback, that reduces the effects of camera shake to help produce sharp and crisp video quality."

Nikon D5, D500 Flagship DSLR Cameras Launched at CES 2016

At the ongoing CES 2016 exhibition in Las Vegas, Nikon has unveiled its long-awaited flagship, the D5. The company formally made an announcement back in November that they are working on the successor to the D4S and as we predicted, it's now officially announced during CES. You'll be able to get your hands on this in March for $6,500 (approximately Rs. 4,33,600), body-only. 


Other than the D5, Nikon also announced a very exciting flagship for its DX-format camera range called the D500. This will be the successor to the D300S and like the D5, will pack in the same Expeed 5 image processor and support 4K video recording. The D500 will also be available this March at a price of $1,999.95 (approximately Rs. 1,34,000) for just the body while a kit with a 16-80mm f/2.8-4E ED VR lens will set you back $ 3,069.95 (approximately Rs. 2,04,800).

Some of the highlights of the D5 includes a new 20.8-megapixel sensor which offers 153 autofocus points. There's the new Expeed 5 image processor which enables high-speed shooting of around 12fps. Native ISO range now stretches to 1,02,400 making it great for low-light photography. You also have support for 4K video recording at 30fps. The D5 sports a 3.2-inch touchscreen display with a 2,359k dot resolution, built-in Ethernet connectivity and dual memory card slots.


The D500 boasts of many of the professional level features of the D5 but in a more compact form factor. It features a new 20.9-megapixel DX-format CMOS sensor, 153-point autofocus system, 4K video recording support and a native ISO range of 100-51,200. You also get a 3.2-inch touchscreen display and dual memory card slots. The camera also supports Nikon's SnapBridge connectivity suite which includes built-in Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and NFC for quickly connecting and sharing pictures with your phones and tablets.

Fitbit Blaze Smart Fitness Watch Announced for $199 at CES

Fitbit has announced its new fitness tracker watch dubbed Fitbit Blaze at the CES 2016. Blaze comes with color screen, custom clock faces, general connectivity features like call, test, and calendar updates, automatic exercise recognition, tracks steps, distance, calories and floors climbed, keeps tabs on your sleep, and can wirelessly sync with your phone or computer. It also offers smartphone notifications and music controls once connected to a smartphone.

It also include health-tracking options like heart monitor, activity and sleep trackers, and connected GPS capabilities. The watch supports personal training app FitStar that offers Connected GPS, PurePulse heart rate tracking, Multi-sport mode and SmartTrack automatic exercise recognition to help motivate. It promises battery life of up to 5 days on a single charge.


The Fitbit Blaze is expected to ship in three different band colors: blue, black and plum. Along with elastomer bands, buyers will also be able to choose from leather bands as well as metal link bands. It is priced at $199.95 (Rs. 13,310 approx.). the watch is available for pre-order starting today and will be available starting in March 2016. The Classic high-performance elastomer bands available in black, blue and plum is priced at $29.95, Luxe genuine leather bands with stainless steel display frames in black, mist grey and camel are priced at $99.95 and the Luxe stainless steel link band with a stainless steel display frame in silver is priced at $129.95.

Lenovo Vibe S1 Lite Launched with 8MP Front Facing Camera with LED Flash

Lenovo has launched the new Vibe S1 Lite smartphone just ahead of CES 2016. It is available in Matte White and Matte Blue colors and is priced at $199 (Rs. 13,250 approx.). It is expected to go on sale in early 2016.
