Sony has launched its latest flagship smartphone, the Xperia XZ in India. It is available in Forest Blue, Mineral Black and Platinum, is priced at Rs. 51,990 (MRP), while the MOP or Best Buy price is Rs. 49,990. Pre-bookings for the Sony Xperia XZ open on October 1 via Amazon.in, and in retail stores across the country.

Sony Xperia X Compact, Xperia XZ Launched at IFA 2016

Sony has announced the Xperia X Compact and Xperia XZ, at IFA 2016 in Berlin. Sony Xperia X Compact is available in Mist Blue, Universe Black and White colors. Sony Xperia XZ is available in Forest Blue, Mineral Black and Platinum colors. Both the smartphone will roll out globally from October 2016. No word on the pricing yet.

Sony has launched the Xperia XA Ultra Dual smartphone in India. It is available in White, Graphite Black and Lime Gold colors and is priced at Rs. 29,990. The smartphone will be available via Sony Center stores and other electronic retailers from Wednesday.

Sony Xperia Z5 Series Starts Receiving Android 6.0 Marshmallow Update

Sony has started rolling out Android 6.0 Marshmallow for it Xperia Z5 series smartphones. The firmware version 32.1.A.1.163 is available for all three Xperia Z5 variants - namely the Xperia Z5, Xperia Z5 Premium, and the Xperia Z5 Compact. The update will start from Japanese variants of the entire Xperia Z5 lineup which includes the Xperia Z5, Z5 Compact and the Z5 Premium. The update will soon follow the global variants in the coming weeks.

The latest Android Marshmallow 6.0 update comes with a bunch of new features like Doze, Google Now on Tap, new camera interface and more. Sony has not included STAMINA mode in this update, although it is expected to add the feature in a later firmware update.

Sony Xperia C4 Unexpectedly Receives Android 5.1 Lollipop Update

Sony had listed Xperia C4 and C4 Dual for Android 6.0 Marshmallow update. It was expected to get Android 6.0 Marshmallow update directly from Android 5.0 Lollipop. But here is a surprise for all the Xperia C4 and C4 Dual users, Sony has pushed the Android 5.1 Lollipop update to the handset in the form of build number 27.2.A.0.155 for the Xperia C4 and build number 27.2.B.0.155 for the C4 Dual.

The update is available across six different models of the C4 and C4 Dual and is available to download as an OTA (Over-the-air) update. We aren’t sure if this means that the C4 and C4 Dual won’t get the update to Android 6.0 or not. Only time will tell. It could possibly be just Sony releasing an update that brings some improvements to the performance, security etc. so that users will be happy while waiting for the next major update.

Sony a68 SLT Camera With Translucent Mirror, 4D Focus System

Sony Europe unveils a new Alpha-mount camera that belongs to the SLT range. The camera features Sony's 4D Focus system and is compatible with A-mount lenses. The a68 will go on sale in Europe starting March 2016 for roughly EUR 600 (approximately Rs. 42,800) for just the body and EUR 700 (approximately Rs. 50,000) with an 18-55mm, F3.5-5.6 SAM II kit lens.

"The new A68 (ILCA-68) camera from Sony lets enthusiastic photographers discover even more creative opportunities with their precious collection of A-mount lenses," said Sony in a press release. "Inheriting many pro-style features from the acclaimed A77II, the A68 features Sony's unique 4D FOCUS system that delivers extraordinary AF performance under any shooting conditions - even in lighting as low as EV-2 where other cameras struggle."

The a68 continues the use of Sony’s Translucent Mirror Technology that allows for constant AF tracking while the camera is shooting at 8 frames per second. The a68 features a 2.7-inch TFT LCD display with a resolution of 460k dots and can be tilted. You also get an electronic viewfinder, which is an Oled panel with a resolution of 1.4 million dots and offers 100 percent frame coverage. Other features of the a68 include Full HD video recording with continuous AF tracking, a rear control wheel that’s similar to the a7 series, 10 customizable buttons, a front control dial, and a Multi Interface Shoe and Multi Terminal for accessories (e.g. flashes, lights, microphones, and remote commanders). 

Sony touts the new A68 to come equipped with a fixed translucent mirror which allows the camera to perform quick shooting coupled with continuous use of accurate phase detection AF.

"The larger Exmor CMOS image sensor with approximately 24MP provides for high image resolution, delicate tonal gradation and expressive bokeh," said Sony. "And the BIONZ X featuring advanced image reproducing technologies processes vast data from the sensor at high speed for more realistic images." "The duo is a perfect match for shooting in the wide ISO range of 100-25600 and producing beautifully sharp, clear results," Sony added.

Sony Launches Hi-Res Audio Compatible Headphones, Earphones in India Price Starting Rs. 6,990

Sony has unveiled a new range of headphones under the 'H.ear' series, with three new audio products now available, priced from Rs. 6,990 to Rs. 12,990. The series includes two in-ear models and one on-ear model.

The first product in the range is the Rs. 12,990 on-ear 'H.ear On' MDR-100AAP headset. Featuring an on-ear headband design, the MDR-100AAP is powered by 40mm drivers that are capable of reaching frequencies of up to 60kHz. It also has while lightweight CCAW voice coils and titanium-coated diaphragms to minimize unwanted vibrations and enhance the sound.

The range also includes two in-ear models, the Rs. 6,990 MDR-EX750AP and Rs. 9,990 MDR-EX750NA. Both have 9mm drivers, while the latter also features active noise cancelling with a claimed battery life of up to 16 hours. The MDR-100AAP and MDR-EX750AP are available in various colour options, including Viridian Blue, Red, Charcoal Black, Lime Yellow and Bordeaux Pink, while the MDR-EX750NA is available in Black.

Also launched alongside the H.ear range is the Rs. 12,990 Sony MDR-XB950BT wireless over-ear headset. Available in red, the 'Extra bass' Bluetooth and NFC-capable headset has 40 mm dynamic driver units. With a charge of 4 hours, the headphone delivers upto 20 hours of claimed battery life. It also features a built-in microphone for hands-free calling capabilities. The MDR-XB950BT is part of the extra bass range by Sony, which is engineered for a bass-boosted sonic signature.

All of the headphones launched are already available now throughout India, through Sony's vast distribution network of over 20,000 dealers and distributors and over 300 Sony-exclusive outlets. The company also has 365 service outlets throughout the country.

Sony’s Concept for Android 6.0 Marshmallow Now Rolling

Sony has started rolling the Android 6.0 Marshmallow concept on Xperia Z3 and Z3 Compact. Already some of the users has started enjoying the experience of exploring our Android Marshmallow concept on Xperia Z3 and Z3 Compact.

Sony said that the Android 6.0 Marshmallow concept firmware will be gradually rolling out “over the coming weeks” as this is the first phase. In addition there is a good news as Sony has opened up some extra registration spots in case you have not registered to participate in Concept for Android just yet. Interested users can download Sony´s Concept for Android app from the Play Store and sign up to test the concept Marshmallow build on their Xperia phones.

Sony Releases List Of Devices Getting Android 6.0 Marshmallow

After HTC and Motorola, Sony has confirmed the range of smartphones for Android 6.0 Marshmallow update. It doesn't mention the Xperia Z and Z1 range, but the company says that it has been working hard to bring the major update to as many of the devices as possible, so we can expect more devices to be added in the future.

Android 5.1.1 Lollipop Update for Sony Xperia Z1, Z Ultra and Z1 Compact Released

Sony has started rolling out Android 5.1.1 Lollipop firmware update for the Xperia Z1, Xperia Z Ultra and Xperia Z1 Compact in the form of build number 14.6.A.0.368. 

The latest update provides a full fix for the Stagefright exploit, with the improvements to volume and silent mode control, more control of your alerts, simplified and enhanced design. Now you can integrate LinkedIn with your Calendar and Contacts. There is an additional options for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth in notification menu now. Improved Camera focus, speed and accuracy in Superior Auto mode. Along with all these changes now you have richer Xperia themes and new Settings menu icons.

Sony has launched Sony Xperia M5 Dual in India. The smartphone was launched last month. It is available in Black and Gold colors and is priced at Rs. 37,990. It will be available in Sony Centers, Sony Smartphone Lounges and all retail outlets across India starting from today.

Sony has launched its latest flagship smartphone Sony Xperia Z5 and Sony Xperia Compact at IFA 2015 in Berlin. The new smartphones comes with improved cameras. The Sony Xperia Z5 and Sony Xperia Z5 Compact come with a brand new 1/2.3 Exmor RS for mobile 23-megapixel sensor and F/2.0 G lens. Sony claims to have designed the camera inside its new flagships using the same technology that's seen in its Alpha range of interchangeable lens cameras. Sony has launched its latest flagship smartphone in India. Sony Xperia Z3+ was announced last month, it is available in White, Black, Copper and Aqua Green colors and is priced at Rs. 55,990.
