Xiaomi Mi A1 Android One Phone with Dual Rear Cameras Launched in India at Rs. 14,999

Xiaomi has launched it first Android One smartphone dubbed Xiaomi Mi A1 in India. It is available in Black, Gold and Rose Gold colors and is priced at Rs. 14,999. The smartphone will be exclusively available via online shopping partner Flipkart, Mi.com, and the company's Mi Home stores from 12 pm IST on September 12. The smartphone will also be available via offline retail chains (including Sangeetha, Poorvika, Big C, LOT, UniverCell, E-Zone, Croma, and Vijay Sales) as well as Mi Preferred Partner stores, on the same day. It will come with 200GB additional data for Airtel users.

Xiaomi Mi A1 features 5.5-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD 2.5D curved glass LTPS display, Corning Gorilla Glass powered by 2GHz Octa-Core Snapdragon 625 14nm processor with 650MHz Adreno 506 GPU and 4GB RAM. It has an internal storage of 64GB and can be expanded via microSD up to 128GB. It sports a 12MP rear camera with dual-tone LED flash, 12MP secondary camera with telephoto lens, PDAF and 5MP front-facing camera. It runs on Android 7.1.2 Nougat whic is upgradable to Android 8.0 Oreo and has 3000 mAh battery.

Android One Devices Starts Receiving Android 6.0 Marshmallow OTA Updates in India

Google, while announcing the rollout of its Android 6.0 Marshmallow to Nexus devices, also added that it would be reaching Android One devices as well. Now, Android One smartphones – Micromax Canvas A1, Spice Dream UNO Mi-498 and Karbonn Sparkle V are getting the Android 6.0 update in India.


Google earlier this week released the factory images of the latest version of its mobile operating system for a handful of Nexus devices - Nexus 6, Nexus 5, Nexus 9 Wi-Fi, Nexus 9 Cellular, Nexus 7 (2013) Wi-Fi, Nexus 7 (2013) Cellular, and Nexus Player. These factory images would require you to flash your device (manually install the software update), and you will need to follow simple instructions. OTA updates have also started rolling out.

The Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) OTA (over-the-air) update is 338.1MB for all the Android One smartphones which share the same ROM.

Android One smartphones Receiving Android 5.1.1 lollipop OTA update in India


Google started rolling out Android 5.1.1 (Lollipop) update for the Android One smartphones - Micromax Canvas A1, Spice Dream UNO Mi-498 and Karbonn Sparkle V in India. The update brings the build number of all the three handsets to LMY47V. The Android 5.1.1 (Lollipop) OTA (over-the-air) update is 11.8MB for all these smartphones.

The Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update brings performance improvements and overall OS stability for the three Android One devices. Android 5.1.1 is also anticipated to bring a fix for the memory leak issue, a bug that plagued Android 5.0 Lollipop users and even haunted some users on Android 5.1 Lollipop.

If you own an Android One smartphone and still have not received the update go to Settings > About Phone > System Updates and check for update.

Download Android One OTA Android 5.1 Lollipop


Android One started rolling out Android 5.1 lollipop. Yesterday Android 5.1 lollipop was rolled out for Spice UNO. Here is how you can upgrade your Android One device to Android 5.1 Lollipop. You don't have to factory reset your device before flashing, as this is an OTA update you can just flash it & get updated to Android Lollipop 5.1 even without losing any data.

How to Install Android One OTA

  • Download the OTA
  • Place the zip on your Android One device.
  • Boot into stock/any custom recovery.
  • Select the zip placed on your sd card & flash it.
  • Reboot, be patient, first boot will take some time.
  • Enjoy!

Android One Phones Start Receiving Lollipop Update in India


Google started rolling out Android Lollipop update for the Android One smartphones. In a Google+ post, Sengupta said each week Google will push the over-the-air (OTA) Android 5.0 Lollipop update each week to more users who've have been selected at random, with users on Wi-Fi getting a better chance.

The Android One smartphones in India are Micromax Canvas A1, Karbonn Sparkle V and Spice Dream Uno. Few week back Google had released new Android One smartphones running Android 5.1 Lollipop in Indonesia, so the exact version of the Lollipop update for Android One phones in India has not yet been revealed.

Android 5.1 Lollipop is now official

When most of the devices are waiting for Android 5.0 Lollipop, Android 5.1 Lollipop has already made its way out to the devices. Though Google hasn't officially confirmed 5.1's availability, according to the Android One website says "Runs the latest and fastest version of Android(Android 5.1). Automatically gets the new version soon after it’s released".

Android One expands to Bangladesh, Nepal, and Sri Lanka

Now its time for Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka to taste Google Android One. It was back in September, Google launched Android One in India. Now Google is expanding the product to the neighboring countries.

Karbonn, Spice and Micromax have partnered with Google Android One in India. In addition to these Bangladesh’s own Symphony will launch their first Android One phone with the Symphony Roar A50.

Caesar Sengupta, VP, Product Management says, "we’re taking another step toward reaching the next five billion people: in the coming weeks, the Android One devices will start to go on sale in India’s neighboring countries of Bangladesh, Nepal, and Sri Lanka. A wide range of manufacturers and network partners such as Banglalink will begin to sell Android One smartphones."

Spice Dream Uno H Android One smartphone launched at Rs. 6,499

Spice has launched its Dream Uno Android One smartphone, called the Dream Uno H with complete Hindi language support. Spice Dream Uno H is priced at Rs. 6,499 and it will be available through major retail stores (online and offline) in the country.

It comes with complete Hindi keyboard along with voice input and Hindi app versions of the popular Google services such as Chrome, Search, YouTube, Google Maps, Aajtak, Sony live and Hungama.

It has been especially designed for the 300 million Hindi speaking people focusing on states such as Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar and the rest of the country, the company said.

Spice Dream Uno H features a 4.5-inch FWVGA display powered by 1.3GHz quad-core processor and 1GB RAM. It has an internal storage of 4GB and can be expanded via microSD card up to 32GB. It sports a 5-megapixel rear camera with LED Flash and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. It runs on Android 4.4.4 KitKat and has 1700 mAh battery.
