Apple iOS 9.3 is Available Now With New Night Shift Feature

Starting today, Apple has announced iOS 9.3 will be availabele for download for iPhone and iPad. iOS 9.3 will be available as an over-the-air update later today. You can also update via iTunes.

The main highlighting feature of iOS 9.3 is the Night Shift feature that shifts the color temperature of the display based on the time and location of your device.Other than this there has been an improvement in security for Notes app and inclusion of Touch ID multi-user support for iOS. Notes can now be password protected and unlocked using Touch ID, a useful addition if you have bank account details you want to protect with an extra layer of security. The first signs of multi-user support for iOS are also present, allowing students with iPads to share the devices easily.

There are new 3D Touch options for Apple’s stock apps, including Weather, Settings, Compass and Health. It looks like Apple is still struggling to find significant ways to make 3D Touch worthwhile, a feature that essentially eliminates the multiple taps and swipes it takes to find a certain feature. For something like Weather, iOS 9.3 beta 1 allows users to see the weather at their current location, or for other saved locations in the app.

CarPlay apps have been updated so they’re up to snuff with mobile apps in iOS 9. For example, the CarPlay app for Apple Music now includes New and For You section for music discovery, while Maps features “Nearby,” which shows users points of interest that are within a few mile radius. Health now links to third-party apps, and also reflects the Apple Watch’s move, exercise and stand data.
